About Youth for Western Civilization

Youth for Western Civilization is a supremacist group that's a relative newcomer to the right-wing student scene, though its founders have roots in more established reactionary groups. According to Youth for Western Civilization's Facebook profile:

The purpose of Youth for Western Civilization is to form a right wing youth movement.

Youth for Western Civilization educates, organizes and trains activists on campuses across the nation to create a subculture that promotes the survival of Western Civilization and pride in Western heritage.

Youth for Western Civilization provides guidance, educational materials, and funding for student groups which work for Western values on campus.

New groups will be established if none are present on a campus and all possible assistance will be given to those groups that wish to work with us.

The end goal of Youth for Western Civilization is an awakening of young Westerners that will fight for their heritage and their liberties against leftist occupation and restore sanity to American universities.

Youth For Western Civilization's Founders

Kevin DeAnna and Marcus Epstein, who are no strangers to the right fringe, are the group's founders. DeAnna is a member of Young Americans for Freedom and the Leadership Institute; Epstein is Executive Director of the Buchanan siblings' project "The American Cause." 

The Southern Poverty Law Center has a good rundown of the nationalist and white supremacist ties this organization has:

One of the group’s founders, Marcus Epstein, is a frequent contributor to the white nationalist hate website VDARE.com.

“Diversity can be good in moderation – if what is being brought in is desirable,” Epstein wrote in one VDARE.com essay. “Most Americans don’t mind a little ethnic food, some Asian math whizzes, or a few Mariachi dancers – as long as these trends do not overwhelm the dominant culture.”

Epstein is also the head of the Robert A. Taft Club, a Washington, D.C. group whose events regularly feature prominent academic racists like Jared Taylor, the editor of the overtly white supremacist journal American Renaissance.

Another Youth for Western Civilization founder, Kevin DeAnna, has posted several times in recent years to the Spartan Spectator, the website of the Michigan State University chapter of Young Americans for Freedom, or MSU-YAF.

In 2007, the Southern Poverty Law Center identified MSU-YAF as a hate group after it organized a “Catch an Illegal Alien Day” game, sponsored a “Koran desecration contest,” jokingly threatened to distribute small-pox infected blankets to Native American students, posted “Gays spread AIDS” fliers, called Latino students and faculty members “savages,” and invited Nick Griffin, the chairman of the neofascist British National Party, to speak on the MSU campus.

Far from merely launching a self-described “right wing” advocacy group, DeAnna wants to groom like-minded students for positions of power within the university.

“You go to a typical campus, and in my opinion your college Republicans will be even better organized than the college Democrats,” DeAnna said. “It will all be very organized and everything else, but that’s not who controls the campus. Who controls the campus is this constellation of groups based on ethnic identity. … This is where you get the far left stuff that gets shoved down everyone’s throat.”

DeAnna aims to place his members in groups that allocate student funds, giving them a say in university priorities.

Tom Tancredo

Former U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo is the honorary chair of YWC. Youth for Western Civilization had it's official "coming out party" on February 26 at CPAC, in the Palladiam Ballroom, though they sponsored Tom Tancredo to speak at American University several days earlier. There he said "Throughout history, people who are not white Anglo-Saxon have become American by adopting a white Anglo-Saxon culture" and "We are forcing children to participate in a world that promotes Muslim sensitivities."

Tancredo's event was silently protested by an ad-hoc group of AU student clubs.

When Tancredo came to UNC to speak about immigration and the pure, concentrated evil that is having state funds possibly supporting undocumented immigrants who are in school, his opponents weren't content to sit idly by.
